Norman E. Grimm, Sr.

Norman Grimm was born September 18, 1931, in Alexandria, Virginia. His father, Henry F. Grimm, Sr., retired as a Lieutenant from the Alexandria Police Department with 34 years of service.
Norman was raised in Del Ray, attended Mt. Vernon Elementary School and graduated from George Washington High School in 1950, where he lettered in baseball, football, basketball and track.
Norman was one of six children, four boys and two girls. One brother, Charles Herbert, was killed in WWII at Iwo Jima.
In 1951, Norman married June Cecilia Theimer and they have two children, Norman Edward Grimm, Jr. and Charles Herbert Grimm, II.
Norman started his career with the Alexandria Police Department on March 3, 1953. He was promoted to Investigator in the Detective Bureau on October, 1957, Corporal in the Detective Bureau in November 1958, Sergeant in the Detective Bureau in December, 1962, Lieutenant in the Detective Bureau January, 1965, and Captain, Commander in CID in April 1969. Norman retired from the Police Department March 16, 1979.
Norman also coached football at Bishop Ireton High School and was a baseball coach at Paul VI High School.
Norman was a volunteer with the Alexandria Fire Department at Station #2, Potomac Truck and Engine Company, from September 1947 until December 1979.
Norman joined the Retired Police and Fire Association September 1, 1982, and was president 1989-1993; 1995-1998; and 2000-2001, for a total of 11 years.
